LiDAR Applications in Security
Wednesday, 26 September| 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM | N109-110
Explore different uses for LiDAR (light detection and ranging) sensors within the security sector. While LiDAR has been widely recognized for its groundbreaking potential to enable self-driving vehicles, LiDAR can also serve as “eyes” for a huge variety of machines, including drones, robots, and security systems. LiDAR security systems use artificial intelligence software to classify and track an intruder, using features such as unique surface profile curvatures that can identify humans, animals, or objects and inform the response of security professionals. Compared to existing security technology, LiDAR is miles ahead. It includes 3D vision (unlike cameras) and can detect potential intruders before they physically breach a perimeter (unlike ground sensors).
