Michael Gips, CPP, CSyP, CAE

Michael Gips, CPP, CSyP, CAE, is the Chief Global Knowledge and Learning Officer at ASIS International, responsible for Editorial Services, Production, Education, Certification, Standards and Guidelines, and Information Services. He is also the staff lead to the CSO Center for Leadership & Development (formerly the CSO Roundtable). As an editor for ASIS’s Security Management magazine from 1994 to 2007, he wrote hundreds of articles and columns on virtually every topic in security. He has won more than a dozen awards for his writing. In 2007 he developed and ran the CSO Roundtable, growing it to 370 members. In 2013, Mike returned to the Publishing division at ASIS as vice president, leading a staff of 14. He was promoted to his current position in early 2016. He has also held interim leadership roles in marketing and membership and held various internal security duties, including crisis management. During his close to 25 years with ASIS, Mike has presented at dozens of conferences around the world on behalf of the Society and other organizations. He has represented ASIS on television, on the radio, in Podcasts, in Webinars, and in other media formats.


Mike has a B.A. in history and Spanish from Tufts University, and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School. In the security arena, he holds ASIS’s Certified Protection Professional designation and the Chartered Security Professional designation bestowed by the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals. He also has multiple certificates in security and business subjects. In the association arena, he is vice chair of the Executive Management Section Council of the American Society of Association Executives and holds ASAE’s Certified Association Executive designation.
